Brothers United Dance

We had a great time up in the Green and Gold room at HSU for a formal dance put on by the Brothers United club. All decked out in tuxedos and suits with beautiful ladies on their arms....

Luckily I didn't have to scar anyone with my horrible dancing since we set up in an adjacent classroom to take the photos.

Brynne Senior Portrait

So Brynne must have some great connections at McKinleyville High to get her yearbook photo in this late. Regardless, it was a blast photographing her on Saturday. Of course the Starbucks® latte kept her going at a time that I doubt she's usually awake on a Saturday.

Brett and Nim

Brett and Nim are gettin' hitched sometime soon. SET A DATE ALREADY!!! Brett owns Mr. Rooter Plumbing and he's in my BNI Networking group. He's always upbeat and he wants other business people to succeed along with him! We met up at Redwood Park in Arcata and had a fun time.

We're still here...just doing the busy work.

January has been flying by. It's typically a pretty dead month for photographers across the board. We've had some really fun jobs to carry us through the month. Mostly the daily toils have been preparing our 2009 pricing for portraits and weddings, getting ready for the bridal fair at Blue Lake Casino March 1st and pulling images for the new website which will be up and live in a week or so.

I (sheldon) have personally been burying myself in photography art books, magazines and art theory books. Just something to help keep the spark glowing in the slower times. Some new portfolio work coming down the pipe, fun projects and some fine-art work.

Arts! Arcata-Friday, January 9th!!!

Come on down this Friday from 6-9pm and give a listen to our friend and local strummer Lila Nelson. Lila is much loved around these parts and we're honored to have her in the studio. Of course us gents from Arcata Photo will be around to chat about photography, art, computers, fine drink and a variety of other meaningless drivel. We've got some killer new work hanging on the walls, representative of some of the fun work we've been having over the last couple months. We'd love to show it all, but hey, it's not a big place. Just big fun.

What?!?! In DECEMBER?!?!?!

The Fam

Okay. Outdoor photography in Humboldt County in December is a little iffy to say the least. When Kristi Puzz dropped into the studio and wanted to arrange a family portrait while folks were in town for the holidays, we thought...no problem! Mind you, it'd been raining for a week straight with 100% chance of precip on the outlook as well. Hey, who are we to turn down something like this? Shooting in the rain at an undecided location with a tight timeline? OF COURSE WE WILL! After all, that's what pros do right? With some well placed redwoods for a little cover on our subjects we kept spirits high and everyone was smiling. Of course maybe they were laughing at the soggy photographers and gear they were looking at. Fun times and thanks again to Kristi Puzz and her family!
